I thought I'd offer up some escapism to get through this dreary Wednesday. Wouldn't a little Greek vacation be nice right about now, hm? These are pictures I took during my study abroad in Greece; all shot with my old, half-broken Canon Powershot...I wish I was back there with the camera I have now!

We All Scream For Icecream
Some days I wake up and wonder, "will this be the time I start dressing in a style where people don't try to sell me the children's ticket at the movies?" Then I see some adorable print, like this one with smiling ice cream cones and realize it might be awhile before people take me seriously. Still, perhaps the more classic shape creates some balance with the ridiculous print and bright yellow color, or at I am attempting to console myself with that theory.

Detail Of The Week: Vintage Coach Satchel
This vintage Coach satchel is a real treasure and a gift from the lovely Brittany, who just opened her own vintage store: Finders Keepers. If her store ends up being anything like her personal wardrobe it promises to be stocked with incredible pieces. I'm so thankful for her gift of the bag and I can't wait to use it again and again.
I also thought this offered the perfect opportunity for a Nasha cameo. We haven't seen much of my lovely Kidrobot Labbit lately, though it is not due to any shyness on her part! Nasha is always begging for another adventure and chance to be photographed, so I'll just have to try to make life a little more exciting for her. Designer clothes are definitely right up her alley, she might just pull a Fifi and start refusing to be surrounded by anything less.
An Occasion To Dress For
I've had this dress for ages and it is one of my favorite thrift store finds. I like to pin it into a mini, but I'm not committing to actually chopping the extra inches off because perhaps one day I'll want a more elegant length, you know? For as long as I have owned this dress and the minor customizations I put it through, I've only worn it a handful of times because I always felt that velvet might be too much for day wear. Recently though, I decided I liked it too much to allow it to gather dust in the dark regions of my closet. This is a reoccurring theme for me, but pieces you really like should be worn to death, not saved for some mythic occasion (that for me rarely occurs). If I didn't wear my dresses to run errands and walk the dog, I would never wear dresses!
Neo Classical
While I clearly don't wear pants often, I'm always willing to change it up if the right pair comes along. This Paige denim Lou Lou flares from Revolve is not only putting me in pants, but also in flares which I haven't wore since...junior high? Lately, I have been enjoying 70s style so these jeans fit my mood. The flare is just the right amount without being overkill and the black color makes them incredibly wearable. Even with heels on I had to hem them shorter (the joys of being below average height), but a long stream-lined leg does make me look taller.
I'm rather terrible at collecting basic wardrobe staples, so this fly print shirt from Mini Market (already sold out!) is the only white button-up I currently own. Most white button ups make me feel like a waitress, which is probably why I don't own any. Would it be too unprofessional to wear this shirt with a suit on occasions that call for "business wear?" The print of little flies seems incredibly subtle. Hopefully, I can just avoid 'business wear' situations for awhile and I don't have a suit anyway making the entire query moot. So, fly print clothes: a new classic, no?

Les Fleurs
The "Animated Flowers" was the last work of Jean Grandville in 1847, a Parisian artist better known for her satirical cartoons. There are fifty plates in this series each whimsically depicting a flower in the form of a woman and rather elaborately dressed.

Detail Of The Week: Vanessa Boulton Clutch
While I have been shying away from bright colors lately, spring definitely suits a more vivid wardrobe. This vibrant blue Elephant Clutch is from the whimsical line Vanessa Boulton and definitely is nice injection of color for any outfit. Unfortunately, I have forgotten to photograph it with an outfit and so, it needed a detail post of its own to highlight it. The whole Vanessa Boulton line is a fusion between illustration and fashion; with adorable figures from elephants to peacocks it definitely appeals to my fanciful side.
Through The Looking Glass
All of the world seems to have gone a bit Mad-Hatter wild for Alice in Wonderland. However, I am not complaining especially when it leads to fashion inspired by the books and films. I love clothes with a large dose of whimsy. So, when I was invited to style a piece from Forever 21's new line inspired by Alice in Wonderland I was quite excited.
The peter pan collar and clock print on this tunic is such a pretty interpretation of "Alice" style. It is very silky and trimmed in tulle and the colors definitely took me outside of my "comfort zone" (in general, I am not a lover of pink). If I was more of a pants or leggings wearer, you would have the full effect of the tunic, but since I'm a dress and skirts girl, I tucked it in and just tried to let the print shine. To keep the outfit more playful I threw on my new creamy, Girly Girl shoes. They are very feminine and wonderful heels and I'm sorely tempted to paint a black cap-toe on...
