I had thought I was getting over an infantile passion for fairies and other nonexistent creatures...but my admiration for the unbelievable has returned. I would like to flit like a fey creature between crumbling castles and wild, unkempt forests while dress in Christian Lacroix gowns... In some ways I feel an obsession with haute couture is a continuation of a childhood love of fairy tales. What else is further removed from reality than haute couture? Perhaps, I have partially traded in my fables for whimsical runway creations that still act as escapism from a reality that stings.

The shoes are a month old, but I haven't worn them since the very first day I bought them...until now that is. They're very whimsical and make me feel like dancing, but they're a terrible nuisance to put on. Outfit details: coat- H&M, dress- Asos, tights- gift, shoes- Zara
In honor of the impending new year, I am making some small changes around the blog, among these changes will be "interviews" of some of my favorite bloggers. I'm starting off with a fashion-themed game of "would you rather" with Yulanda of Little Thoughts. Her blog has been among my favorites for quite awhile now due to her beautifully composed images. Each conception is wonderfully executed with quirky balance that is reflected in her style.
The rules of "would you rather" are simple, one choice or the other must be made; one is not permitted to answer "neither" or "both."
"I LIKE a look of agony, because I know it's true;
Wicked booties and tie-dye tights make this collection by Emma Cook simply stunning. The muted tones allow the details and patterns shine through. The collection is not really my typical style, but isn't that rather the point? I'm often inspired by collections and people who dress very differently from myself. While I might never have the courage to emulate some of the crazy mixes I admire on street fashion sites, perhaps I can add a small dose into my daily outfits or even just admire them from a safe distance.
My family will actually not be opening presents on Christmas day because one of my sisters is still not home and we are postponing Christmas for her. (We will however be having a little dinner party on the night with some friends of my parents and a couple of young soldiers whose flights got cancelled and are delayed here away from their families.)
Personally, I feel as if I had a little bit of an early Christmas... Before I left for Greece I won a $50 Forever 21 gift card from Weardrobe. It didn't arrive before I departed, so it was here waiting for me when I got home. After a very brief perusal of the site I quickly ordered two key pieces: a leopard print coat (because let's be honest I am addicted to leopard print; exhibit a, b, c, d, and e) and a pair of black jeans (because owning no black pants started to feel ridiculous).
The Cobrasnake was in Athens, Greece. I could have been there. Sorta. Really wish I had been. It would have been my first "hipster" party. Or even "major" party.
P.S. The girl in the rad tee with the great smile (picture #3) is the photographer behind Streetgeist; an Athens street fashion site.
