It is really wonderful to have friends in foreign countries when they send you cool care packages filled with strange sweet and magazines you can't properly read; like May 2010's Vogue Nippon. This jewelry spread in Vogue Nippon really caught my eye. I love the pop art colors imposed over top film noir-esque pictures shots in black and white. The spread is clearly very provocative, but my image hosting site actually found one of the images too offensive to allow! If you're curious about the image (no nudity) you'll find it buried in my Tumblr along with other scans from the magazine.

How fitting are so many of the editorials from last fall for this spring?Valentina Zeliaeva by Richard Bush for Elle US September 2009
Age Of Enlightenment
I've been getting more use out of my scanner lately, even if it just being used to scan old editorials to post on my Tumblr. If I have a timeless digital copy of these images I'll feel more comfortable chopping them up into collages and other random creations. This is one of my favorite editorials from the past year; especially the shot of the simple white dress with the overload of gold bangles.
Parisiennes
These are scans from the book "Parisiennes: A Celebration of French Women." It's a fascinating and photo-heavy book that covers some history of women in France (such as the women's liberation movement there) alongside quotes and snippets from day-to-day life. It doesn't cover one particular era, but spans the early 1900s through the 1960s. Unlike staid and staged editorials, these candid portraits of life not only show a people interacting with the city of Paris, but also the sometimes humorous reactions of people around them.
