Because sometimes the best way to spend your Friday night is wandering the athletic trail, listening to Edith Piaf and trying to capture the way the light highlights the leaves and branches with your camera.
How to rock my preppy shirt?
I'm trying to wear things that I don't usually from my closet. I bought this shirt over a year ago and I don't think I've worn it since I bought it. I remember thinking, "Oh this is classic" and liking the stripes, but it just didn't translate easily into my everyday wardrobe.
Artist Snowflakes
In honor of the season I thought I would post some renderings of snowflakes; it will be a weekly (?) series on the deconstruction of a snowflake. The images of snowflakes are so strongly burned into our minds that some work will unintentionally call snowflakes to our mind. Over the next month I will share images that make me recall snow.
While I do not think this was artist Donna Marcus's intention when she made these sculptures out of aluminum kitchenware the resemblance is uncanny. As an artist, Marcus collects vintage kitchenware, that is: teapots, lids, steamers, deep fryers, cake moulds, etc., to create her work.

Moon Walk
Despite the fact that Fritha Louise just posted on moon boots yesterday, I can't resist mentioning my love for them. This is a passion that defies all logic, note my vocal distaste for Uggs, yet see the similar shape between the two items. Moon boots first came into being in the 1970s by manufacturer Tecnica of Italy. As far as snow boots go, these are pretty wicked. On top of that Teen Vogue did a photo shoot with them ages ago and the image is burned in my memory. If I ever do purchase a pair (through eBay or in some other way discounted since the price tag gives me chills) I do solemnly vow to only wear them on days of extreme cold or visible snow and to never bring them to a summery season with a miniskirt.
Dance of the Vaccum
Doesn't cleaning make you feel like dancing? Yeah, me neither. Now, a clean floor--that is something to celebrate. Further, reasons for rejoicing would be wearing several items that I don't pull out a lot: my polka dot shirt and my summery navy skirt. I also incorporated one of my new head fascinators.

Mixed Patterns
I haven't experimented too much with mixed patterns, unless you count your scarf and your skirt both having patterns--which I don't really because the scarf is transitional and can come off once indoors. Point being, I found these amazing new tights at Target and decided to wear them with this amazing new plaid skirt I found at a thrift store. I bought both this weekend, I was on the hunt for a good plaid piece.
For anyone looking for inspiration on poses for their pictures, I recommend checking out this video on Fashion Confession. The model in it does one pose per second for around three minutes, I found it very inspiring.
Comfort vs. Style
As the seasons change and the weather turns colder, many stylish ladies turn in their ballet flats for Uggs (ugh!). Now I am all about choosing fashion that is practical as well as stylish, by all means pile on the layers and wear shoes you can walk in, carry a bag to fit your books--but there is a limit. I wear sweat pants to the gym (when I go, which is rare) and have never (and will never) don Uggs or Crocs. But I was wondering, where do you all stand? Are you comfort ladies, or anything in the name of fashion? (I must admit I have worn ballet flats and tights in the snow before, and it wasn't that awful or as extreme as my friend who wears flip flops no matter the temperature.)
