Dew-Cloth, Dream-Drapery, Spread By Fays

I adore the whimsical and yet, powerful statement the overwhelming flower crowns add to these misty images. The clouded colors and lightweight dresses paired with bare feet add an ethereal quality to the faceless models. There's clearly a staged element in this editorial (as with so many), but it equally seems to embrace nature and simplicity. The photographs stand as a pretty dichotomy: the models pose for the camera, centeral in every image, but they are faceless and unimportant--a vehicle for the flower crowns.

"Low-anchored cloud,
Newfoundland air,
Fountain-head and source of rivers,
Dew-cloth, dream-drapery,
And napkin spread by fays;
Drifting meadow of the air,
Where bloom the daisied banks and violets,
And in whose fenny labyrinth
The bittern booms and heron wades;
Spirit of lakes and seas and rivers,
Bear only perfumes and the scent
Of healing herbs to just men's fields!"
-David Thoreau
