Perhaps my favorite Jean-Luc Godard film is the lovely A Woman Is A Woman. Featuring Anna Karina it is classic french new wave with a nod to American musical comedies. It's a plotless love triangle centering on Angela (Karina) who desperately wants a child.
A Woman Is A Woman
Sadder Than The Owl Song
When I was little I had a lot of stuffed animals. Almost no dolls, just stuffed animals. As children are want to do, I played favorites with them. Some I would shower with attention and others I would ignore. This always led to a nagging sense of guilt and even fear that my neglected stuffed pets would be angry with me...all this to say: I feel this way about my purses now. I've collected so many purses over the years from vintage stores, thrift stores, markets, and the regular retailers. Some hang in a closet in the attic, others are lined up on shelves, or scattered around my room, and a very select few are actually used. Even this lovely owl purse which I bought at a market in Florence, Italy this past summer has only been taken out a few times. I almost reached for a basic grey purse to use this day, but the owl somberly eyed me up in my closet and made me feel too guilty to leave it there. Moral of the story? Don't anthropomorphise your purses...
Minkette
On Monday I shared my first-ever guest post with you and now I'm doing a series of guest blogs over at Minkette! So many new things happening and it's only the first week of 2011. These images are just a little teaser, so if you want the whole set hop on over to Minkette to see my entire post...

Oh My Cavalier
I really enjoy art and I also like to wear jewelry, so it stands to reason that combinations thereof will appeal to me. These pretty brooches by Oh My Cavalier would certainly seem to affirm that theory. I especially enjoy brooches (or rings or necklaces) like these because they are something you use, wear, and carry with you. As a vagabond who is has lived in three different states in the past three years, I often resist buying art to hang on my ever-shifting walls and instead accumulate my knick-knacks in the form of jewelry (and clothes).
Wisdom Worth More Than Rubies
How quickly things change, no? Yesterday everything was muted and foggy, today we have clear skies and I'm wearing a glaring combination of black and red. The red gloves really make the growling panther face stand out, don't you agree? I definitely love this dress, but I think I'm going to try to wear a little less black in the near future. I never do to well with intentional dressing because I'm much more instinctive and put on what suits my mood in the morning. Still even though spring is just a dream on the horizon, I'm going to try to introduce more off-beat tones into my wardrobe.
Here's Looking At Me Kid
So, I've been blogging for three years and I only just did my first guest blog post! It's a remix for Here's Looking At Me Kid. Hop on over there to see me wearing my new Trashy Diva dress 7 different ways. This is also the dress I wore on Christmas Eve and it's probably my new favorite. It's called the Doris mini; I love the shape, material, and the fact it comes with pockets. I want to get it in other colors and prints!
Pale But Not A Ghost
The world might be fading away in blanket of grey fog and rain, but despite moody weather I'm quite thrilled to be boasting light layers and bare legs. For a fleeting period of time it felt like spring in January. In Washington state I would sometimes wake up to the sounds of bugles or canon shots, here in Virginia I was woken up by the sound of fog horns...neither are bad ways to start the day.
One Paints The Beginning Of Certain End
These marbled vintage papers are just too lovely to not share. How amazing are the colors and patterns when you start to contemplate the length and difficult process involved in their creation? I would like a return of this artistry; to open a book lined in a Gloster pattern or even pull back a drawer prettily decorated just so.
Saturday Remix
It is technically Sunday, but there was no "Saturday Remix" last week due to Christmas, so I couldn't resist posting one now. I dug deep into my archives for this remix! I bought this striped dress at Zara when I studied abroad in Greece. Sadly, it has been missing since my move to Virginia this summer; meaning I either accidentally donated it to the local thrift shop or it's still in some box that has yet to be unearthed...
A Pretty Pairing
Why not start the new year right wearing this brass rose headband and carrying this Kate spade clutch?
