Due to my love of subversive art I might need to go anonymous if I intend to post about my midnight activities. I have already come up with my pseudonym. The title of this post is the only hint I shall give...

Givenchy paid homage to the greatest test of artistry--the circle.

Akris managed to show squares and straight lines, without creating unflattering, boxy outfits.

Dries Van Noten showed felt the call of the urban jungle and mixed it up.

Stella McCartney didn't "wow" me, but the monochromatic layering is lovely.

Yves St. Laurent is looking stream-lined and sleek and is sure to make any wearer feel like a "star."

It might surprise some of you to know that I used to be really into art (I know, I know, shocker). In highschool I took AP art classes, then along came college and a business major and art sort of flew out of the window. I haven't really kept up with my artistic side, other than to keep some notebooks of magazine clippings and collages. One of my goals lately has to been to start sketching again and drawing regularily. I'm not really impressed with what I've turned out so far, but here's a sample of what I've been attempting.
The point of the second is to draw without lifting the pen.

Does life seem to be passing in a blur to you as well? A second ago I was entering college, I pause to blink and now I'm halfway through without any clearer idea of where I am heading. I feel as if I am running just to keep pace with life.

No wonder so many high end lines are losing money and designers keep opting for younger, cheaper lines. When even what is hot is hot, that hip-titude lasts what--a few seconds? Seasons keep seeming drastically different from one another (to me at least), nothing is lasting other than a greater awareness of fashion and more personal style.

Ribbons have appeared in the world for nearly as long as fabrics and are often used for decoration. The ribbon is designed much in the same way as fabrics and ribbons used to be woven on loams as well. In the Middle Ages peddlers sold exotic ribbons and ribbons have always held symbolic meaning. In the 16th century Parliament attempted to make it so that only nobility were allowed to wear ribbons and certain orders of merit still are designated a ribbon color.

Who can not remember a time when the red ribbon symbolized AIDS awareness (remember the Seinfeld episode where Kramer refused to wear his AIDS ribbon)?
Just an interesting thought with the recent trends of ribbon necklaces, headbands, and other accessories, might we be unconsciously saying more than we know?

A little sketch of what I've been wearing lately, not what I've been eating (^_^).

Today, thanks to a slight change in temperature and some signs that fall is finally on the way, I wore my grey knee socks. They work with so many shoes, I am quite enthused to wear them many times over, as well as purchase more, preferably in the slouchy, oversized dimension.

Missoni offered a few surprises with oversized prints and unusual material choices and combinations.

Etro was a wild mix of inspirations: military, bohemian, prep.

Pucci offered a lovely palette of colors and art deco inspiration for wonderfully busy and geometric prints.

Dolce and Gabbana make me feel like I'm not the only girl who fingers the upholstery fabric in the store for things other than curtains.

It's hard to imagine that these looks are intended for Spring 2008, when Fall is just beginning. I won't be waiting until Spring to incorporate any of these ideas into my wardrobe and by Spring they will probably be outdated...
