Many of my favorite designers and editorials feature those clothes and stylings of pure fantasy. Certainly I can't envision a time when I will be riding circus rings in butterfy-bedazzled heels, but wouldn't it be grand if I could? Although, even if you don't think your personal style suits this extreme there are elements here to be taken to heart: embellished pieces, jewel tones (jewels!), layered, bright bangles, and colorful heels. I especially would love to get my hands on a jewel-hued turban...

Of Mice and Mad Men
You might or might not know, there's a contest going on for a walk-on role in Mad Men. One of my favorite bloggers (Kater of All This Happiness) has thrown her hat into the ring. I can't think of anyone more suited to win; you can vote for her here.
Greek Myths And Fairytales
It's a simple formula, but get two great minds together, or two great artists and the result will be something even better than what they do individually. Case in point: this self-initiated collaberation between a photographer and illustrator. The layers really make each creation stand apart from the crowd.

I Fly By The Seat Of My Pants
This was originally meant to be a picture an hour post on my travels over to London, but around hour four of my second flight I quite lost interest in taking pictures! So, here you have part of a day that never seemed to end…

At The Expense Of Strangers
It's nice when the oh-so-serious art world has some artists who aren't afraid to have a bit of fun...even at the expense of long-dead strangers. Is it wrong that I want to copy Sophie Backall and similarly deface some vintage photographs? If I could find some large ones and mutilate them thusly they would make for perfect decoration for my first real apartment...which I am already decorating although I won't be getting it until next fall...

Detail of The Week: Gal Stern Tights
I debuted one pair of Gal Stern tights a short while ago (you can see them here), but I received a total of three pairs from her and I'm excited about them all. I haven't gotten around to wear this pair out yet, so I thought I'd share it as this week's detail. This pair is called Leg Jewel and features a gold foil print on the front and back; it also reminds me of Kismet.
Once More Into The Breach
If there's one thing I can do well, it is packing a suitcase. Like many things you get good at what you have a lot of practice in. Sometimes when my family moved we lived out of suitcases for weeks before our boxes would arrive. I've also spent part of a summer in high school living out of one suitcase in Germany. I packed everything I needed for a semester in Japan in two suitcases and repeated that again for Greece. I've also been on countless road trips and shorter stays. If it is only for a few nights, all I need is a duffel bag. All this to say: packing is not an issue for me.
Three Years Ago Today
So, it was three years ago on this very day that I started my blog. I'm still rather amazed by what it has become and how it has altered my life (instead of merely recording it as was the initial hope). I hope you enjoy the little video I made in honor of the occasion.
Photographic Memory
These recap posts are always rather daunting. My blog is officially three years old and I want to remember the past "blogging year" through my favorite photographs...which means going through hundreds of images and forcing myself to narrow them down to just a few for each month; making this post rather ridiculous in length. It has been an interesting year exploring Washington State, road trips through the Midwest, and even some fashion week shenanigans in New York city...and now I'm off to Europe for new adventures. Thank you so much to everyone who has visited my blog to be part of the ride!
