Weekend Impressions
I am back to Nowhere after a weekend in Somewhere, though I suppose Anywhere seems like Somewhere right now. Be prepared for a visual overload...
Captured Moments
Left: Henri Cartier-Bresson
Right: Sartorialist
When the camera captures moments like this, I feel captured, sitting and staring at the images for ages. The man on the left, he is diving into a pool of water, what will become of him next? The people to the right, where are they running, will they collide?
Nouveau Prada
Prada drew inspiration for its latest collection from Art Nouveau (my favorite movement in art) and I am in utter awe. The clothing is so stunning and eccentric and strange and wonderful, ahhh... I'll have to write more intelligently about this when I can think straight again.
The fairies and flower prints remind me of my favorite classic fairy tale books. The color palette also reminds me of childhood German jumpsuits in purple, aqua and mustard; looks like those colors are growing on me again...
Things that infused joy into my day
-two frightened rabbits
"There was a man who lived a life of fire.
Even upon the fabric of time,
Where purple becomes orange
And orange purple,
This life glowed,
A dire red stain, indelible;
Yet when he was dead,
He saw that he had not lived."
-Stephen Crane
Thank you
Decisions
I am wearing my skinny jeans and they're very comfortable, I don't have to worry about breezes or keeping my legs crossed, etc. However, apparently for a group presentation tonight I am supposed to dress "professionally" and somehow I doubt jeans fall into that category, so I will have to change. In addition that presentation is supposed to end right at 9:00pm and right at 9:00pm I am supposed to be ten minutes across campus starting work. Which means I will have to run across campus (and in my professional wear). I am split between "forgetting" to dress properly and meeting expectations and also split on whether to take a change of clothes with me to work, or just deal with whatever I do end up wearing.
Lately
Not much to announce, other than I really need to mellow out somewhat, what else is new? I am a very passionate person, almost anything gets me excited and I don't know how to be places on time, only ten minutes early...oh well.
LFW Dai Tsuki
Things I'm loving from London Fashion Week:
Louise Goldin with the beautifully mixed colors and wonderfully manipulated materials. Also, this show begs the question: are swim caps the new turban?
Luella Bartley for a nice mix of distinctly sweet pieces and because batman is a fashion inspiration.
Facehunter, because the people attending the shows are often just amazing as what you will ever see on a runway. Street fashion knows couture.
